The Old Orchard Otters Swim Team

The Old Orchard Otters were established in 1967.  Since that time, our Otters have enjoyed the unique benefits summer swimming offers, both in and out of the pool.  Old Orchard is proud of its Swim Team and celebrates 50 years of a tradition of sportsmanship, community, and excellence.

Last year, as the Swim Club celebrated its Golden Anniversary, the Otters had an epic season.  Old Orchard went undefeated in divisional competition earning the Tri- County “C” Division Championship.  Then, the Otters swam their hearts out at Cherry Bowl and won the 2016 Cherry Bowl Championship for the 21st time in the meet’s history, which is the most wins by any team.  At the 36 team Tri- County Championship, the Otters placed 7th overall capping a storybook season.  Our end of season video can be viewed here– its worth your time.  Come join us!

COACHING STAFF

We are very happy to welcome back Coach Chris Brookover as Head Coach for the 2017 Season.  Our Assistant Coaches are all former OTTERS and we are thrilled that they will be back on deck this season: Sarah Morris,  Jaimie Lynn Brookover, and Duncan Brookover.

Meet The Coaches:

Chris Brookover, Head Coach,

CoachChris@oldorchardswimclub.com

Chris is entering his fourth year as the Head Coach of the Old Orchard Otters Swim Team.  Chris brings over 30 years of swimming knowledge to Old Orchard and has a strong background in coaching swimmers at all levels.  Chris’s focus on fundamentals and stroke mechanics helped the Otters improve and was a driving force behind Old Orchard’s 3rd place finishes at the 2014 and 2015 Cherry Bowl Championships, Old Orchard’s 2016 Cherry Bowl Championship, 2016 “C” Division Championship, and the Otter’s 7th place finish the 2016 Tri-County Championships.

In addition to Old Orchard, Chris is the Competitive Swim Director and Head Coach of the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties (YBCC Phoenix).  Prior to this position, Chris was the Head Coach of the Early Senior A group at Jersey Wahoos and served as an Assistant Coach of the Jersey Wahoos Junior A and Junior B1 groups.  In college, Chris was an accomplished swimmer at the University of Wyoming.   He eventually went on to coach as an assistant at the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University.  Chris and his wife Maria are longtime members of Old Orchard.  Chris has served on the Old Orchard Board of Trustees and the Executive Board of the Tri-County Swimming Pool Association, including two years as president.  Chris and Maria are proud parents of an OO Otter, and two Otter Alumni, including Assistant Coach Jaimie Lynn Brookover.

Sarah Morris, Assistant Coach

CoachSarah@oldorchardswimclub.com

Sarah is a former Otter and a natural leader. Her love of science and swimming have a harmonious relationship – her need to understand the cause and effect evident every day. She loves the numbers of swimming and analyzing upcoming meets (she and her dad compete to see who can get closest to the actual score). While she coaches, she knows that every action has a reaction and one’s stroke can be broken down into fundamental parts. Sarah brings a love of swimming, a commitment to excellence, and team spirit to the Otters. These attributes, in addition to Sarah’s work ethic, earned her the prestigious Sean Killion Award for team leadership at Old Orchard and aided in the Otters’ successful 2016 season as C Division Champs and Cherry Bowl Champs.

Sarah continues to add to her coaching experience. She has been an Assistant Coach at Jersey Wahoos, where she focused on the developing swimmer. Sarah is currently in her second year as co-head coach of Senior II and assistant coach of Age Group ML at the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties. In addition to coaching, Sarah is a co-coordinator of the Little Otters Learn to Swim Program. Sarah is a 2016 graduate of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Camden, earning a degree in Biology. In Sarah’s senior year, she completed her second term as chapter president of her award-winning sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon. She hopes to continue her education and obtain her degree as a Doctor in Physical Therapy (DPT). She is also the sister/cousin of two current Otters and four otter alumni.

Duncan Brookover, Assistant Coach
